About Ba

When he married Josette in 1979 and adopted his daughter Amber, he found that no one was writing about the inherent well-being of children. Ba and Josette spent 10 years studying child development and family dynamics. While there was much of value, Ba found these fields lacking in understanding the whole child and her potential for greatness. So he and Josette created a developmental model which they called Natural Learning Rhythms™. Natural Learning Rhythms™ maps the development of the innate capacities in children and offers guidelines to creating relationships that lead to family optimal well-being.

In 1993 Ba and Josette published Natural Learning Rhythms (revised in 1999). Their second book Towards Peace is a book of cooperative games and activities that won the Parent’s Choice Award in 1998. Their third book, Tiger by the Tail explores the inherent spirituality of children and was self-published in 1995. Ba’s second book on cooperative games and activities, Win Win Games for All Ages was written in collaboration with several of his colleagues and was published in 2002. He has also written numerous articles for parents and professionals. Ba’s newest book Optimal Parenting: Using Natural Learning Rhythms to Nurture the Whole Child, will be released in April, 2006. Ba also keeps a blog where he shares his current thoughts and ideas.

Ba Luvmour has been working with parents, children, and professionals since 1980 as a workshop leader and consultant. In 1985 he co-founded EnCompass (a non-profit). Through EnCompass, Ba has offered hundreds of workshops for parents, professionals and families based on Natural Learning Rhythms™. He has given talks and led workshops for parents and professionals in the US, Mexico and Europe, and has appeared on TV and radio in the United States. In 2005 he was asked to co-chair the Education and Human Development Committee of Portland City Club through which he works with education and family oriented Portland organizations. His goal is to help create a world in which all children are allowed to attain their full potential and families have the support they need to live in optimal well-being.

Ba Luvmour lives in Portland Oregon and is available for talks, workshops, and private consultations (by phone or in person). He can be contacted by e-mail or by phone at 503.929.7529.
